Voting NO on anchor and Oracle master grants

Just as an update, we plan to get the auditor/backup anchorer completed in roughly 3 months.

Voting NO on anchor and Oracle master grants

I believe they are time sensitive, other than the obvious security benefits they bring, it brings that extra layer of finality and trust. Once an entry is anchored into Bitcoin it gives that extra layer of confidence. I don't think it would be wise to drop Bitcoin as an anchor. From a marketing...

Voting NO on anchor and Oracle master grants

Yup definitely, hence my post here: https://factomize.com/forums/threads/voting-no-on-anchor-and-oracle-master-grants.3423/#post-25144 Once we have open source anchor code (which we as an ANO committed to doing without any grant funding). I think it still makes sense to recoup the transaction...

Voting NO on anchor and Oracle master grants

Some quick math based on https://billfodl.com/pages/bitcoinfees $0.44 per transaction. 144 blocks a day, 30 days a month, 0.44 per anchor. That's still roughly 144*30*0.44=$1,900 a month for anchoring into Bitcoin

For the oracle master, yes. But private keys aren't "necessary" for anchoring right? Useful, but not necessary

    General Update

We have committed to developing a backup anchorer. For more information see: https://factomize.com/forums/threads/voting-no-on-anchor-and-oracle-master-grants.3423/#post-25144

Voting NO on anchor and Oracle master grants

TLDR: We will develop a backup anchorer. I believe I have a solution. RewardChain would like to commit to open sourcing and completing our anchor auditing bot as well as extend it’s functionality to automatically anchor into both Bitcoin and Ethereum when it picks up on missed anchors. This...

Question for RewardChain from Nate Miller

Hi Nate Thank you for your question. I can understand your concerns, particularly with how the timing has worked out. I invite you to see a demo of what we have come up with so far, so that you are able to see this has developed beyond just being an idea...

    General Update

Just to chime in as well. Yup it's totally possible for those users that currently use an adblocker to also block the "paywall". Even now there are several websites that you can only access through a paywall and there are extensions out there to bypass those paywalls. Just like how most the...

    General Update

Hi David, I’d echo what Alistair has already said. This new focus of ours is driven by a problem we have identified that can work very well with Pegnet, and can bring serious usage to the protocol if we as a community can figure out the issues of liquidity, price stability, key management, on...

Possible restructuring of EC price to encourage volume...

I personally think tiered pricing would be troublesome. In this scenario, SaaS applications, such as Apollo and Facto API would be in a tier that costs low and can therefore offer writing to Factom at a low priced tier. So people with small volume, would likely use that instead of "manually"...

Problems with how we currently anchor

I think that is a good point and strong argument for not wanting the writing of anchors to be done directly in Factom. Do you know if there has been any decision made whether Factom will open source the anchor maker software? Regarding whether auditing should be part of factomd in the future...

Problems with how we currently anchor

Anchoring I disagree with there being no advantage in anchoring being developed directly in factomd. However, I acknowledge there are also disadvantages to this. Lets break down some of the advantages/disadvantages Advantages: Transparent - I know you can argue that this doesn't need to be...

Problems with how we currently anchor

I know Adam from Canonical Ledgers has looked into the factomd code and has put through a pull request as well. But I'm not sure of any other community members which have gotten deep into the code.

Problems with how we currently anchor

Thanks Benny. I haven't come up with a timeline yet, but I'll ballpark now: Setup and run a bitcoind node for querying / validating the anchors Setup github repository with fresh nodejs project Loop through all directory blocks and check ( 1. There is an entry in the Factom Anchor Chain...
